About the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™

A Treatment Regimen for All Skin Types
Most intensive treatment regimens and chemical peels cannot be used on Fitzpatrick Skin Types IV-VI (medium to very darkly pigmented skin), due to the risk of increasing hyperpigmentation in the skin. History: No prior treatment.
Treatment: EpiQuin® Micro morning and evening, 3 Vitalize Peels at 3 week intervals and additional SkinMedica maintenance products. EpiQuin® Micro was stopped during the peeling phase.
Condition: 23 year old African American female, Type IV skin with severe PIH secondary to acne with a large number of lesions with increased pigmentation on multiple areas of the face.
History: Previously used OTC skin bleaching agents only.

This sunscreen is formulated to be ultra protective, moisturizing, oil and fragrance free, full spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with hyaluronic acid, caffeine and green tea extract.
Photo damage to the skin is primarily a result of exposure to UVA/UVB rays. UVB rays are likely to produce more sunburn than UVA and are also considered the main cause of different types of skin cancers. Many chemical sunscreen agents, including octinoxate, provide protection against UVB rays.
UVA rays penetrate deeper in to the skin and are considered the primary cause of wrinkling, leathering, and other aspects of photoaging. They also increase the damaging effects of UVB rays. Products containing physical blocking agents, such as zinc oxide, are best for protection against UVA and UVB rays.
Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is the universal measurement of UVB protection. The higher the SPF, the more protection the product provides against UVB rays. Application of an SPF 20 product allows 20 times longer exposure to the sun than with no SPF, under similar conditions. SPF does not represent protection against UVA rays, only products labeled "Full Spectrum" provide protection against UVA rays.

1. Why do I need a prescription to purchase the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™?
The TNS Hyperpigmentation System™ contains an Rx product, EpiQuin® Micro, which can only be prescribed to you by a licensed Physician.
2. How long do I need to use the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™ before I see improvement in my skin?
You can expect to see initial improvement after the first week of use, with optimal results in 12 weeks (or as soon as 10 weeks if the system is being used in conjunction with a course of the SkinMedica Vitalize Peel®.)
3. Do I have to use all of the products in the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™?
Yes. The system is designed to provide your skin with everything it needs to treat all the visible signs of aging, sun damage and excess pigmentation. If you don’t use all of the products, you cannot expect to see optimal results.
4. If I miss a step what do I do?
Try not to do this too often! If you miss a step, make sure you remember to use all the products in the order listed next time. Missing steps frequently will mean it will take you significantly longer to see improvement in your skin.
5. If I use up one product before the others, what do I do?
Visit your Physician to purchase any products you might need individually, or to purchase another TNS Hyperpigmentation System™.
6. Can I switch directly from my previous skin care program to this one right away?
Make sure your Physician knows which skin care program you are currently using and also of any prescription products you are currently taking. Your Physician will decide if it is OK for you to switch directly to the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™
7. Can I use any of the products on other body parts (for example on the back of my hands?)
The TNS Hyperpigmentation System™ is designed for use on the face, neck and décolletage. Only use the system on other body parts under the instruction of your Physician.
8. Is it safe to use TNS Hyperpigmentation System™ for an extended period of time?
Yes, the system is safe to use for an extended period of time. Your Physician will be able to tell you how long you should continue to you the system. If any side effects or adverse reactions are experienced, please contact your Physician.
9. Is it safe to use the TNS Hyperpigmentation
System™ during pregnancy?
No. The system should not be used by women who are pregnant, may become pregnant or those who are breastfeeding or allergic to any of the listed ingredients.
10. Can I use the TNS Hyperpigmentation System™ and go out in the sun?
Sunscreen use is an essential aspect of hydroquinone therapy, because even minimal sunlight sustains melanocytic activity. To prevent repigmentation during treatment and maintenance therapy, sun exposure on treated skin should be avoided by application of a full spectrum sunscreen (SPF 15 or greater) or by use of protective clothing.
